Five reasons for cracking of crane wire ropes

Crane wire rope overload means that the tensile force received by the wire rope is too large, exceeding the rated receiving force of the cantilever crane wire rope, resulting in a cracking accident of the wire rope.

1. The crane operator does not abide by the safety operation rules, does not know the weight of the object to be lifted, and lifts blindly, resulting in overloading and breaking the wire rope, causing the sling to fall or swing and smash people. The sling may be overloaded and the sling may be broken, causing the sling or objects to fall and hit people;

2. The production and installation of the crane is unqualified, and the limiter of the lifting limit is not installed or the limiter fails, which causes the hook to continue to rise until the coil (pull) breaks the lifting wire rope, causing the hoisting object to fall and hit people;

3. The crane is in disrepair for a long time due to improper maintenance and aging of electrical components, so that the height limiter switch does not move or moves slowly, causing the wire rope to be broken by overwinding, so that the hook and lifting heavy objects fall and hit the workers on the working surface ;

4. The force distance limiter on some cranes, especially the double cantilever gantry crane, has not completed the wiring, and is only used as a display of amplitude and weight, which cannot function as a limiter, which leads to overload cracking of the wire rope;

5. The breaking of the crane wire rope is also related to the type of operation, the use environment (high temperature, corrosive gas), storage and use.

To sum up, the wear of the crane wire rope, one is the wear between the drum and the pulley, and the other is the wear between the wire ropes. To reduce wear, the key lies in the smoothness of the wire rope. If the wire rope is in a normal and smooth state, the wear of the wire rope will be reduced to the minimum limit. When the wire rope wear reaches the scrap standard, it should be scrapped in time. The overload of the wire rope is mainly caused by human factors. Therefore, in order to reduce the cracking accident of the wire rope, the crane operators should do a good job in the maintenance and repair of the crane, find and remove various faults in time, and abide by the operating procedures during the operation. The ten-no-hanging principle can greatly reduce the probability of wire rope cracking.
